Islay fans will be thrilled
The first TWCC "Drum Mòr" bottling from 2019, behind which is a peaty Laphroaig from the island of Islay, came from a bourbon cask. The current "Drum Mòr" started in a bourbon cask and matured the last five years in a sherry cask. As a result, it differs significantly in taste from its four-year younger predecessor.
Tasting
The nose shows delicate and bacony peat smoke notes, which are underpinned by dried banana, highlighting them deep and spicy. On the palate, wonderfully peaty, enriched with dark chocolate, there remains a delicate and enormous spiciness that leads into a very long finish. A peat chunk of the first order, which knocks every Islay fan off his stool!
Nose: banana, sherry, peat, pitch, fruity, sweet.
Palate: banana, bitter orange, wet ash, leather, sweet.
Finish: long, spicy, intense
