Auchindoran
Aultmore has always been used for blends, but as a single malt it has led a rather shadowy existence. The distillery is still off the beaten track, between Rothes and Port Gordon on the B9016. This is because, like some of the distilleries belonging to the "Dewars Group", it was and is not visitable. The current whisky from Aultmore is now only available as an original bottling in the bourbon cask version. In the past, however, Aultmore was a classic sherry whisky, which is why we matured our "Auchindoran" single malt after 6 years in bourbon casks for a further 8 years in oloroso sherry casks. This gives it the typical "musty" Oloroso aroma, juicy sultanas, dried fruit as well as ethereal aromas characterise this whisky in the nose. On the palate, the dried fruits come forward wonderfully and are complemented with black chocolate and heavy sherry. Opulent notes of dry oak follow in the finish. A real sherry - whisky that can easily hold its own when enjoyed with tobacco.
