Tasting
The Tormore distillery, one of the youngest distilleries in Speyside, was founded in 1958. It is one of the most beautiful distilleries, looks almost like an old schoolhouse and has never been open to the public. Their whisky was mostly available as a 10-year-old original bottling, a light single malt in the classic Speyside style with lots of citrus. In contrast to the 21-year-old TWCC first edition from 2017 from a bourbon cask, this time we have opted for a 13-year-old bottling with an Oloroso sherry finish. This is characterized by a delicate spicy herbal note on the nose, underpinned by dull sherry and a subtle bandage box note. Fruity, spicy aromas are released on the palate and the ethereal, spicy note gives this malt a full-bodied character. Tormore from a sherry cask is a rarity in itself.
Nose: Dull sherry, herbal mix, woody notes
Palate: Mocha, dark chocolate, dried fruit, spicy, fruity
Finish: Wonderfully spicy and long
